When I travel, I always attempt to visit any of the Light Houses in the area and along the trip route. This also includes travel overseas! Like the Grist Mills that are falling into decay, also the light houses fall. Unlike the Mill, there are national groups dedicated to the preservation of these beacons so few totally fall into ruin today. Still, they are worth the trip to visit and I hope that you will do so in your own travels!
As with the Grist Mills, I have and am creating a GPS database of the lat/long of each light house I visit. You can visit my blog at:
to download this file which is in a GPX format. You will then need the dowload software that you can find at your GPS makers web site to grab this GPX file and move it onto your GPS!
